The African Disability Forum (ADF) is a continental membership organization of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Africa whose vision is to see an inclusive Africa where all persons with disabilities and their families have their rights and voices respected and participate actively in the life of their communities and nations as outlined in the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Currently, ADF has 49 National Federations of Organization of Persons with Disabilities, ten continental and four sub-regional OPDs

Since 2020, ADF has been working in more than 15 countries across Africa, implementing high-quality programme’s that deliver long-lasting benefits for persons with disabilities. The organisation has grown rapidly, expanding from two staff members in 2020 to 29 staff in 2025. Team members are based in various countries across Africa and collaborate with ADF members, who are the direct implementers of the projects at the national level.

Currently, ADF is co-implementing the BRIDGE (Boosting the Rights of Individuals with Disabilities in Africa) project, which aims to strengthen the capacity of regional actors to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Africa. The project will strengthen the capacities of federations of organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) in Africa and support the ratification, implementation and monitoring of the African Disability Protocol. BRIDGE is financed by the GIZ commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Job Summary: Responsibilities include contributing to the financial management and administrative reporting of the organisation and its projects. This includes documenting financial transactions, analysing and validating account information, preparing account entries, and providing financial reporting services. The role processes financial transactions to ensure accurate income and expenditure reporting to support ADF’s projects and programmes. Additionally, it oversees financial reporting for implementing partners (IPs) and ensures their financial reports adhere to the contractual agreement.

Job Description: Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Bookkeeping and Financial Administration
    • To process suppliers’ invoices by receiving and confirming compliance of the invoice, verifying the invoice against budget and contract, allocating the invoice against the correct cost code and capturing into the system weekly
    • To process expense claims by receiving and verifying the accuracy and completeness of the expense claim, allocating to the correct cost code, verifying against budget and processing for payment
    • To maintain the Suppliers database by capturing and updating contact details, tax and compliance information and any other relevant information monthly         
    • Prepare cash receipt vouchers, payment vouchers and check as well as transfer letters. 
    • Enter all financial transactions into an appropriate computer software program.
    • Collect funds/Transfer advice of ADF and accounted for in a timely manner in line with agreements, contracts and other documents.
    • Collect bank statements, cheques and advice periodically
    • Check payments and other expenditures to ensure that they are authentic, consistent with the approved budget and financial procedures of ADF.
    • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Finance and Admin Manager.
    • Evaluate and monitor IPs financial management processes in accordance with policy and strengthen capacity of partner in financial accounting and transactions.
    • Perform financial analysis for the implementing partners financial document with submitted report and record to the ADF accounting software.
  2. Audit Management
    • Assist to prepare for grant audits by collating relevant documentation, filing into the relevant structures as per the grant agreement and submitting as per the grant agreement requirements
    • Ensuring the internal control and internal auditing process by collating documentation and prepare necessary financial statements a monthly basis.
  3. Payroll Administration
    • To finalise the payroll for processing by loading the finalised and authorised payroll register onto the system, verifying the captured data and managing the processing of the payment for release monthly
    • To submit all payroll related taxes and government obligations to the revenue authority by preparing the reports as required within deadlines
    • Perform all the finance Managers’ task at his/her absence
  4. Technical support and Advisory
    • Support partners to strengthen governance, program delivery, advocacy, financial management, strategic planning, and MERLA.
    • Facilitate organizational development plans for members and track progress.
  5. Petty Cash Administration Resource Mobilization and Partnerships
    • Ensure performance of periodic and surprise petty cash checking and counting.

Job Requirements

  • BA degree in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration or similar fields of study
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial experience in a position with similar responsibilities preferably with an international or local NGO or in the Disability sector.
  • Experience in the Non-Profit and/or disability movement sector is preferred
  • Excellent Communications in speaking and writing English. French Desired.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), with experience using online/virtual communication platforms and financial software including QuickBooks Online.
