The Executive Council
Providing Strategic Leadership. Strengthening Continental Representation.
The Executive Council provides strategic leadership and governance oversight, guiding the African Disability Forum in advancing the rights, representation and inclusion of persons with disabilities across Africa. The Executive Council is composed of nine members and elected by the General Assembly. Chairperson and members of the Executive Council shall be elected every four years. Election of members takes into consideration gender, type of disability, and regional representation. The ADF Chairperson represents the Forum and chairs Executive Council meetings. The ADF Executive Director serves as an ex-officio Council member.
Leadership and Governance
The Executive Council is a key governance body of the African Disability Forum (ADF), providing strategic direction and oversight in support of the organisation’s mission, vision and continental priorities.
Through collective leadership and representation, the Council helps advance ADF’s advocacy agenda, strengthen collaboration among organisations of persons with disabilities, and promote the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes at national, regional and continental levels.
Working within ADF’s governance framework, the Executive Council supports organisational accountability, strategic partnerships and the implementation of priorities that promote disability rights, accessibility, equality and inclusive development throughout Africa.
A Shared Commitment to Inclusion
The Council’s work is guided by the principle that persons with disabilities must be represented, heard and actively involved in decisions that affect their lives.
